Definition
Extension springs are close-coiled helical springs, with initial tension (most of the time) that extend when a pulling force is applied. They can be coiled either left or right hand wound with a variety of end styles. Initial tension is the force which keeps the coils of an extension spring against each other

End Styles
End styles vary greatly depending on application. The most common, least expensive and easiest hooks to produce would be the machine/half hook, sweep loop/hook, large/full English loop/hook or tang ends.
Machine Hooks
Sweep Hooks
English Hooks
The difference between a loop and a hook is that a loop has no gap (it’s closed) and a hook has an opening that can be used to “hook” onto an assembly
